Brake Fluid Notes and Information

I read an interesting article on brake fluid recently that got me intrigued on the subject to dive into it a bit more and see what all I could learn about it. This article by Mike Mavrigian of Birchwood Automotive stated that different brake fluids have different compressibility. He stated, "Different brake fluids can dramatically alter the brake pedal feel with no other system changes." This all being based on the different compressibility of the various brake fluids. This opened my eyes a bit. In our race cars we have predominantly used Motul RBF600 and we have never had any...

The BRZ is the Car of the Year

Once you identify the goals for a particular vehicle, the plan is set to get to those goals and the vehicle continues to impress you each time you use it of course it becomes the Car of the Year. The Subaru BRZ was brought on with the intention of building a reliable, fun track car. The car now has 9 track days, over 750 track miles and it has not balked at me once. Other than adding gas and doing the usual once over maintenance items that any track car requires the BRZ has gone out session after session and...

BRZ Track Car

There are 2 track weekends under the BRZ's belt and it has proven to be quite impressive so far. The majority of my on track experience is in FWD vehicles so I expected a bit of a learning curve getting into the BRZ but the confidence the chassis gives you expedited this process. With 360 track miles on the car so far there is not 1 thing that I would change. Both weekends have been run at Sebring International Raceway. Most recently I ran with NASA and picked up over 4 seconds per lap from the first time out. My...

Header, Wheels and Padding Oh My !

Another quick update on Project Left, Right, Left EF. The car came with an Autopower 4 Point roll bar but did not have approved padding installed on it so we ordered in SFI Roll Cage Padding from Stroud (available from www.IPGParts.com if you like) to fix the situation. Not difficult to install at all, it looks great too. And since we had a nice Corbeau 4 Point safety harness here already we decided to donate that to the project as well. We left the stock seatbelt in place too so cruising around town will not be annoying. A stock GSR...
