AP Racing / Essex Competition Endurance Brake System- 13+ Subaru BRZ & Scion FR-S The BRZ/FR-S was design from the ground up to be a pure sports car made for the driver. Lightweight, Front engine, and Rear Wheel drive all combine to offer the ultimate driving experience for the street. On the track with sticky tires, they are putting down lap times equivalent to much faster cars. The BRZ/FR-S was also designed with aftermarket support in mind. The brakes used on these cars is one area that leaves it to the aftermarket support. They are heavy, not really attractive, and leave much performance left on the table when the temperatures at the track rise. Not all brake systems are created equal and in fact not many are made for real heavy duty track use. They can increase thermal capacity and solve some fading issues but they generally aren't produced for hardcore track use. AP racing and Essex set out to design a couple of brake packages that can take anything you throw at them...and then some. Their Competition Endurance front kit for the BRZ/FR-S reduces the weight of the front of the car by about 10lbs. Each corner with their system vs the OEM braking system were weighed for a weight savings of 5lbs each corner. -Incredible array of inexpensive race pad options at prices that are substantially lower per set than the OEM pad shape. The 20mm pads are 50% thicker than stock, providing far greater wear resistance and insulation for your calipers.
