Golden Era Honda Civic Perfection

Best Civic EG Ever Built eg civic hatchback Golden Era honda

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Reliving days gone by has been a constant for generations of humans. Our parents had 1960s muscle cars, we have 1990s Japanese econo boxes. I can't count how many 92-95 Civic EG Hatchbacks I have owned over the years but I can credit a 1995 Civic Si Hatchback I owned in 1998 as the reason I have an interest (and in my case a business) revolving around these platforms.

1990s Honda Civic and Acura Integra platforms have shaped a huge amount of car enthusiasts. Not only that but how many of our wives, sisters, aunts, uncles and more used them as commuter cars to get around town, drive through college or insert any other reason you just need an appliance of a car to move about. But the aftermarket industry saw the diamonds in the rough these cars are. They took well to modifications, were able to be toyed with at a reasonable price point and there were so many made new canvases were endless.

This leads us to this 1992 Honda Civic CX. I was on the hunt a couple of years back to build another EG hatchback and this car was sourced. It had already been re-painted and the moldings were in great shape so already ahead of the curve. If anyone has ever dealt with painting a car it is not very much fun, costs way more than you expect and takes way longer than you expect. Find a car that doesn't need body or paint work, pay the premium and get to the fun part of these projects. Simplicity and ease of use were the goals with this particular project. I don't need huge power, I don't need an uncomfortable ride, I just want the right feel, the right look and the right memories.

Here is the rundown:

Like most cars around IPGparts the build is the fun part. This car may find a new owner in the near future but I can honestly say this is probably the best EG Civic we have ever built. It will be hard to replicate. Space, time, money and life are all constants in our way of keeping everything we ever want. But always enjoy the build, always enjoy the vision, always enjoy the memories.
