I am headed up to Road Atlanta this weekend for some HPDE fun with Chin Track Days. The weather on Saturday is looking rough with rain. The good news is we have a solid wet weather setup that has worked successfully for us in the past. Here is a run down of what we do in order to drive through the puddles.
Mounted up a fresh set of Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires. These are a 340 tread wear performance summer tire that are excellent in wet conditions. We will use these as a dual duty street tire for the car when needed and on track rain tire. Looking fresh on our 15x8" TE37 wheels.
Next we unhook the front and rear sway bars. Just pull one end link off of each to soften the cars roll and allow for maximum mechanical grip. Along with that we dial in the dampers to full soft.Â
The windshield was thoroughly degreased, cleaned and we applied Rain-X to it on the outside and Anti-Fog on the inside.Â
And that is our recipe for tracking the Integra Type R in wet conditions. Well, all of that and a reasonable mind set that we are out to have fun and learn on track with puddles abound. Keep it safe, bring it back in one piece.
