There are 2 track weekends under the BRZ's belt and it has proven to be quite impressive so far. The majority of my on track experience is in FWD vehicles so I expected a bit of a learning curve getting into the BRZ but the confidence the chassis gives you expedited this process. With 360 track miles on the car so far there is not 1 thing that I would change. Both weekends have been run at Sebring International Raceway.
Most recently I ran with NASA and picked up over 4 seconds per lap from the first time out. My immediate take away is how well the car is setup. This is a combination of a great chassis and well selected parts for the project. The brakes never go away, the tires never fade and all I have had to do during the 2 weekends was add gas. Having a reliable, consistent platform was the main goal and this allows me to work on myself as a driver without worrying about many other variables. Using a Traqmate for data logging and video it has been fun to go over the data gathered after each session to see where the time variances are from lap to lap to fine tune my driving style.
So far I have not made one change to the car from the initial damper and alignment setup. Going forward I am going to start making small changes to see how I can get the car to perform differently. This is what makes this project fun. I am competing against myself and with good data and a take it slow attitude it should be a great learning experience that I can carry over into any future project we take on.
