2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona

Being 40 miles from the world famous Daytona International Speedway has its perks and once a year the IMSA crew rolls into town for an always fun weekend of racing, friends, sights and sounds during the Rolex 24. When the pro’s come to town the trip to the Speedway is worthwhile to pick up on some new ideas, see the latest and greatest race cars and in general enjoy great door to door racing action. This year was no exception as IMSA seems to be getting even stronger at the minor league level with the Michelin Pilot Challenge having a deep field of GS and TCR car competing at the 4 hour Friday pre-cursor to the big show.

The TCR cars peak our interest as they are relatable for size, power and bang for the buck opportunities that are available worldwide with this platform and the adoption of the FIA GT4 rule set for the GS class has brought back huge fields and top talent behind the wheel.

The Rolex 24 hour event has become one of the top 7-8 races in the world for sports car drivers and teams to participate in. Imagine having the Super Bowl as the first event of your season. That is basically what happens each January with the field takes the green flag for the twice around the clock extravaganza. IMSA continues to give the fans a great experience with the vendor midway, fan walk and garage access options available. Sitting behind your screen watching the top level teams run their season programs doesn’t do the justice. The amount of moving pieces for each team is mind blowing and the thought of the expense involved even more unreal. If you get the chance to spectate first hand don’t pass it up.
