Some of you know, some of you don't but we recently acquired a very fine Integra Type R Race Car. This was a smoking deal being passed around the internet and we were lucky enough to be the first ones to pull the trigger on it. This car has a bit of history to it and as you can see by the modifications and pictures it was built with a no expense spared type budget. The complete details on the history of the car are still kind of hit or miss but there is a good bit of solid known information. Originally built to race the 2000 SPA 24 Hour Race it was piloted by Marc Hein, John Green and Gary Blackman with Speed Star Racing (SSR Wheels) Livery and listed Acura, SSR and H&R as its primary sponsors. The car was qualified 50th overall with a lap time of 2:55.820 and finished a very respectable 24th overall.

There is no clear cut answer as to weather the car was purchased and built overseas or if it was purchased in the states and shipped over there for the event.

After the SPA 24 Hour event it was shipped back to the United States, prepared for and ran in the 2001 and 2002 SCCA SPEED Touring Car Championship. Running what looks to be a relatively limited schedule of only 4-5 events a year and piloted by Marc Hein it was a solid mid pack car. (2001 Races -- Texas Motorspeedway, Mosport, Portland Intl Raceway, Laguna Seca, Road Atlanta) (2002 Races -- Sebring Intl Raceway, Mid Ohio, RFK Stadium Circuit, Road Atlanta)

After that the history of the car stops. Most likely got sold into private hands and used sparingly at open track type events. The car then popped up in Florida (who knows how long it was there) and was being used by a gentlemen running track weekend events. When the engine let go on the dyno it was put up for sale. WireWheel.com quickly snatched it up at an incredible price and started marketing it on the internet where it went viral in a matter of days. Our close location to Wire Wheel made the deal relatively easy to pursue and we secured the car shortly after that. (this all happened in October 2012)

The list of parts and modifications to the car is very impressive. This was a well thought out race car and was a pretty penny to build originally I am sure. What are our plans with it? Not really 100% sure. It does still need a new engine put into it so that will be step one, get it back up and running. And then probably just enjoy it a bit, take it to some track days and show it off. No immediate plans to take it back to door to door racing but you never know, can't rule anything out. Came with a pretty intensive list of spare parts too.
