PLM Header Reinforcement

Not everyone can afford a top flight, name brand header and we understand that. In our experience the top flight headers do offer superior performance and quality but with some experience we have found things like the various PLM headers can work well too with strategic reinforcement. How do we know these headers will fail? Because they have failed on us personally already on a race track. The first use of the generic overseas headers that we had was on our EP3 Road Race car. We were out enjoying a great weekend at Sebring until BAM, the header broke. We...

Inaugural Integra Type R Race Weekend

After months of preparation the Inaugural Integra Type R Race weekend was upon us. We targeted the Feb 8th-9th, 2020 SCCA Central Florida Regional at Sebring International Raceway that featured an Enduro and Sprint Racing for the weekend festivities. With only about an hour of run time on the car since completion modest expectations were set to use the weekend more of a test sessions to get back in the swing of things more than anything else. The car received its SCCA Club racing log book the week of the event to ensure no surprises when we arrived at the...

B18c5 Powerplant for Integra Type R Race Car

Keeping with the traditional theme we are using the factory B18c5 engine in our Integra Type R Race Car. Tried and true these 1.8L Honda VTEC engines are capable of producing good, reliable power which is exactly what we are after with our Integra Type R Race Car build. We are specifically building this car for the SCCA STL class that is built around vehicles with 2.0L and smaller engine displacements and an adjusting weight scale based on the engine being used and its size. With these class rules we are limited as to what modifications we can perform to...

My People: #UserNotCollector 2000 Integra Type R

#UserNotCollector is a term I have been using lately as I very much find things to be tools to perform a job and if they aren't being used in the way they were intended than what is the purpose of owning it. I look at cars like this. Several people have voiced their irritation over my turning a perfectly good Integra Type R into a race car as the values of them continue to climb but ultimately it is just a car. It is a car that Acura built as their pinnacle FWD sport compact performance car of the time...

Acura Integra Type R Race Car Build

I find myself loving the build process of a new car every time I do it. I know it makes no sense to ever build a race car from scratch when you can get so much value for your money by purchasing a pre-raced car and configure it for your needs but there is something satisfying to me to take an idea and go through the project phase to completion. (Even though it is an utterly frustrating process at times and always over budget) I grew up around all the Golden Era Honda’s (1980s-1990s) and as a graduation present from...
