Integra Type R at PCA Roebling Road Track Weekend

The Florida Citrus Region PCA HPDE event in February at Roebling Road Raceway is an event I have attended several times over the years and it is always a good time.  This year I was able to take the Integra Type R to the track for the first time. Saturday ended up being wet all day which in hindsight was a great learning opportunity for car setup.  Sunday had drying conditions and ended up giving me a couple of full dry sessions on track to cap off the weekend. So with a wet track what did I change for...

B18c5 Powerplant for Integra Type R Race Car

Keeping with the traditional theme we are using the factory B18c5 engine in our Integra Type R Race Car. Tried and true these 1.8L Honda VTEC engines are capable of producing good, reliable power which is exactly what we are after with our Integra Type R Race Car build. We are specifically building this car for the SCCA STL class that is built around vehicles with 2.0L and smaller engine displacements and an adjusting weight scale based on the engine being used and its size. With these class rules we are limited as to what modifications we can perform to...

Integra Type R Race Car Interior

Work is coming along on the Acura Integra Type R Road Race car project. Looking at having this as a long term race car has made some decisions harder than others in the sense that the goal is to do it right the first time and have it last for years to come. Interior paint options on race cars are always difficult and it is a job that no one wants to do. After prepping and priming we decided to stick with a Honda theme and chose the Honda Polished Grey Metallic paint color throughout the interior. In house constructor...

Acura Integra Type R Race Car Build

I find myself loving the build process of a new car every time I do it. I know it makes no sense to ever build a race car from scratch when you can get so much value for your money by purchasing a pre-raced car and configure it for your needs but there is something satisfying to me to take an idea and go through the project phase to completion. (Even though it is an utterly frustrating process at times and always over budget) I grew up around all the Golden Era Honda’s (1980s-1990s) and as a graduation present from...

World Challenge Integra Type R - Update 2

We have put in some work on the World Challenge Integra Type R Race Car. Lots more to do still but we are headed in the right direction. It is always fun to see what you find when you tear down a race car that you didn't build. And in this case we had fun tearing down a race car that had a blown up engine that we didn't blow up so that was interesting as well. Engine removal was straight forward. Nothing too crazy to report there. We did have some fun finding the carnage that was in the...
